The Practice · Est. 2011
A brokerage built around a very small number of houses
Jorty Resources represents architecturally significant residences, penthouses and heritage estates. We take on a limited number of placements at a time, because that is the only way to represent any of them properly — and because the principals we act for would rather not be searched for.
Los Angeles, 2011
Founded as a practice, not a shop window
The large firms treat houses as inventory. Jorty was opened because a small number of residences are not inventory: they are authored objects with a title history, a permit record and, often, a documented architect. Those houses need a different kind of representation — slower, narrower, and unwilling to invent a story when the record is thin.
The word Resources is intentional. Houses of this calibre are scarce cultural assets. Our work is to place them with custodians who will hold them properly, and to decline the rest. Alexander Reed, founding principal, still carries client files himself. That is not a romantic posture. It is the operating model.
The practice remains a California brokerage — Jorty Resources Real Estate LLC, EIN 33-3249520 — seated at 30424 Treeview St., Hayward, CA 94544. What has changed since 2011 is the geography of the principals, not the size of the table.

Diligence
Admission to the registry
Every residence is admitted only after title, permit history and architectural attribution have been independently confirmed. We read the recorded documents, the certificate of occupancy and the alteration permits. We do not take the seller’s monograph as evidence of any of those things.
Where a house has a documented author — Neutra, Lautner, a named contemporary practice — we cite the drawing set or the archive, and we can produce it. Where a later addition has compromised the original work, or the authorship is a rumour that will not survive a serious buyer’s counsel, we say so in the dossier or we do not take the house.
Admission is a written decision. The majority of residences offered to us are declined, usually within a week, with a short note on why. Owners are owed that candour before anyone’s time is wasted on a listing that should not exist.
Title and permits
Recorded title, occupancy and alteration history confirmed before a photograph is released.
Discretion first
Most placements begin off-market, with no sign, no portal and no public price until the seller asks for one.
One advisor
A single senior advisor from first viewing through closing — inspection, financing and relocation included.
